Smarter farming
All of our growing, packaging, and shipping processes are developed with sustainability in mind. Our biggest commitment to sustainability to date is the construction of our new indoor farm that allows us to protect our crop from the elements, reduce wastage and recycle the rainwater. Alongside the indoor farm is two 300,000L tanks to store the rainwater that is used to irrigate our crops.
Environmental protection
We take the risk of nitrogen runoff very seriously at Southern Fresh. As baby leaf salad crops require large quantities of nitrogen to grow, we are growing more of these indoor to reduce the runoff and to help keep the waterways of the Waikato safe for future generations.
Sustainable packaging
We understand the environmental impact of packaging, so all of our packaging is recyclable, uses PEFC certified cardboard, and helps reduce food waste by giving it a longer shelf life.
